Description:
For many students and parents, orientation is an opportunity to get acclimated not only to college life but to campus climate and culture. Although each campus is unique, there are some common issues and trends all campuses and orientation staffs are likely to find themselves tackling over the next few years. These trends include the development of learning outcomes and the assessment of campus programs. In addition, with a changing student demographic more and more campuses are finding the need to better serve millennial parents through special programs (beyond a simple parent orientation). Issues of technology, the push from some state legislatures for dual enrollment or concurrent degree programs, and a focus on educating high achieving students also impact orientation and first year programs. We invite you to join us for a 90 minute audio conference that will include discussion of these critical issues in orientation.

Objectives

As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

• Discuss outcomes of orientation
• Discuss assessments of orientation
• Discuss the nature of concurrent (dual enrollment) programs & orientation
• Explain how to orient high achieving students for success
• Discuss pre-orientation programs

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.  

New - Easier registration for workshops

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop) 

Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
