Description:
This workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to apply promising practices of instructional design in co-curricular programs and critical reflection to the development of college-wide performance-based assessments (tasks) of the ten Learning Outcomes of MDC. Emphasis will be placed on integrating co-curricular activities and reflective practices into the design of assessment tasks and embedded assessments.

Objectives

As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • To identify concepts and frameworks of instructional design for co-curricular activities needed to develop performance assessments of selected Learning Outcomes
  • To align performance task activities, evaluative criteria and scoring tools with co-curricular pedagogy
  • To explain the rationale for using co-curricular activities as part of the performance assessment process
  • To integrate reflective practices into the Learning Outcomes Assessment process
  • To apply co-curricular activities and reflective practices to design performance assessments that measure MDC Learning Outcomes including: students’ ability “to create strategies that can be used to fulfill personal, civic and social responsibilities ....” (MDC Outcome #6)

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop

Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
