Description:
This workshop will prepare Engineering, Mathematics and Science faculty in the incorporation of cooperative education in the classroom by breaking barriers and building bridges.  Techniques on building the spirit of a classroom learning community will also be addressed.

* Approved CT&D Workshop for Professional Development credit.

Objectives

As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Use techniques that will replace the distancing disconnection in the classroom with supportive and encouraging connection
  • Use techniques that will create a class structure in which students experience and utilize their autonomy, exercise personal responsibility for choices and decisions, and control their awn learning
  • Use techniques that will assist self-motivation and create conditions of learning, which make for uniqueness, for self-direction, and for  self-initiated learning
  • Describe the need for promoting, reinforcing, and sustaining of classroom connectedness, shared meanings, mutual purposes
  • Use new techniques that will make the classroom a memorable experience that will stick in the heads, hearts, and souls of students long after they leave the classroom
  • Identify additional teaching resources

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.  

New - Easier registration for workshops

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop

Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
