Description:
This 2 hours CTD workshop is intended to familiarize MDC personnel with the electronic IEP, as well as the Career Coach and Optimal Resume sites that are part of Advisement & Career Services. The Electronic IEP is an instrument advisors can use to create a student's academic plan. Career Coach provides real-time employment data, and it helps students link careers to majors at MDC (and vice versa)

Objectives

As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Create resume
  • Create a cover letter
  • Create a portfolio
  • Create a web page
  • Practice a job interview
  • Search for an open/internship position
  • Assist students in doing all of the above
  • Find salary, job outlook and educational requirement for a related career
  • Locate local jobs for a related career
  • Use the free resume builder for the community
  • Explain the importance of an IEP for graduation, financial aid and transfer purposes
  • Describe proper mapping and the aspects involved in mapping courses in an IEP
  • View a student's current IEP
  • Modify a current IEP
  • Create a new IEP

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.  

New - Easier registration for workshops

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop

Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
