MDC-Community Education at Kendall strives to make connections with the needs of its local population.  To achieve this successfully, the community Education staff must understand what the community is looking for academically and be proficient in creating a product line of course offerings that meets local needs.

Once this is established a serious commitment to excellence in service is the key to ensure sustained, mutually satisfactory, relationships between the community and MDC. since it is people who provide great service leading to customer loyalty, the aim of this workshop is to train the staff of Community Education to develop a heightened awareness of their role in the overall community effort.


As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Develop and promote an improved culture of service at CE 
  • Identify the difference between Customer Service and Service Excellence 
  • Explain the Community Education's Mission, Vision, and Values within the context of the College
  • Develop an understanding of the Student as Customer and describe how a positive attitude will set the stage for cooperation and improved service relationships
  • Identify ways to add value to customer interactions
  • Use communication skills (verbal, listening, tone, body language) for clarity and reduction of misunderstandings
  • Handle difficult people and situations efficiently and effectively
  • Identify best practices and high point moments achieved in the department

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.  

New - Easier registration for workshops

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop

Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
