Description:
MDC credit courses have been mapped using the Learning Outcomes Mapping template, and the recent CLOA results are available. Designed for administrators and faculty who serve as deans, directors, and lead conveners for the schools and disciplines, this workshop will engage participants in considering the CLOA results in connection with a specific program or concentration map. Prior to the workshop, all participants will receive and review a sample MDC general education map and will identify the strengths and gaps they find. Additionally, the lead/discipline/school chair, director or designee will generate one sample degree audit for a program or concentration in the discipline/school and will email it to the workshop facilitator, who will create a sample map for workshop discussion. during the workshop, discipline and school teams composed of the lead Academic Dean, the chair and Faculty conveners, and selected faculty will discuss the interactions among student Outcome learning, curriculum mapping, and assessment (discipline and Collegwide). By the conclusion of the workshop, the participants will have a clearer understanding of the interaction and will have identified strategies and a preliminary plan to engage their discipline/school faculty in a modification of the maps informed by discipline-specific and collegewide assessment.

 Prior Workshop Activities:

Chair Discipline Convener ,School Director. Generate a sample degree audit for a programor concentration in the discipline/school. Email to Lenore Rodicio, who will prepare a sample map for the discipline/school discussion during the workshop.
All participants: review the sample MDC General Education Learning Outcome Map and the strengths and challenges it reveals. Participants are also encouraged to review the CSLOA Rubrics that will form part of the workshop's small group discussion.

 

Objectives

As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  •  Describe the current state of the curriculum mapping process within participant's discipline/school
  •  Describe the connection between mapping and the Collegewide Student Learning Outcome assessment (CSLOA)
  •  Create a curriculum map for a discipline/school program/concentration
  •  Identify gaps/strengths in student Outcomes learning within the program or concentration
  •  Identify strategies to assess student Outcomes performance in the program or concentration
  •  Establish a preliminary plan to engage the discipline/school faculty in discussing the interconnections of
     the discipline/school curriculum map(s) and Learning Outcomes assessments (discipline specific
     and  Collegewide)

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop

Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
