Audience:     All Employees
Length of Workshop:      2 hours
Prerequisite   Completion of "Speaking Effectively" and a prepared speech of 8-10 minutes duration

This workshop is Part 2 of Speaking Effectively.  It is designed to give the participants who attended Speaking Effectively the opportunity to present an informative or persuasive speech.  The participants will receive both oral and written feedback from the facilitator and fellow attendees.
Guidelines for the presentation are as follows: The presentation must last 8-10 minutes and be informative or persuasive in intent.  Visual aids may be used at the participants discretion.  The participants must submit an outline to the facilitator before the start of the workshop.   The participants must make arrangements for equipment with the facilitator.


As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  •  Use effective verbal and non-verbal behaviors while delivering a presentation
  •  Use Critical listening skills
  •  Demonstrate effective organization and delivery techniques for effective communication of intended message
  •  Participate in giving constructive criticism to fellow participants regarding their presentation
  •  Deliver a presentation of informative or persuasive intent

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.  

New - Easier registration for workshops

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop

Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
