* Approved CT&D Workshop for Faculty Professional Development hours.

Description:
This retreat is designed to continue the MDC3 dialogue within the SLS Discipline. Curricular structures and assessment designs will be explored. It will also include an important discussion on program learning outcomes by the College's Learning Outcomes Director, Dr. John Frederick. SLS faculty, as part of the post workshop, will visit one faculty member from another discipline (excluding psychology and sociology) and explore how SLS may be embedded within their particular discipline. The participant will then recommend SLS learning strategies that are essential to that particular discipline. This assignment shall be submitted to one of the faculty conveners within four weeks of the workshop (no later than May 14th, 2012). Anonymous excerpts may become part of the Program Assessment Team's data depository.

Objectives

As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  •  Identify and create program learning outcomes as they relate to SLS course competencies
  • Create appropriate direct and indirect student learning outcomes assessments for SLS courses
  • Describe the role of SLS in the MDC^3 initiative
  • Recommend how SLS may be implemented/embedded into college-ready courses and disciplines
  • Use the results of SENSE data to guide improvement of the SLS curriculum
  • Collaborate with student support personnel regarding MDC3 initiative

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.  

New - Easier registration for workshops

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop) 

Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
