What is Early Admissions?
The Early Admission Program is a form of dual enrollment in which eligible high school students including home school students enroll at MDC on a full-time basis during their senior year in courses that are creditable toward the high school diploma and the associate degree. In order to be considered a full-time dual enrollment early admission student, the student must enroll in a minimum of twelve (12) college credit hours per term beginning in the fall term of their senior year. It is recommended that a student enroll in no more than fifteen (15) college credit hours per term or the equivalent.
Student Eligibility?
- Must have a minimum 3.5 high school unweighted GPA.
- Must have completed the 11th grade year successfully.
- Must have provide required common placement test scores or proof of eligibility using alternate methods.
- Must have authorization from their high school principal, counselor, and parent/guardian.
- Must express intent to pursue a postsecondary degree.
- Must enroll in a minimum of college credit courses which meet the requirements for the student’s senior year and high school graduation (24 credits).
- Must maintain an unweighted 3.0 high school GPA and a 3.0 college GPA in order to continue participating in the Early Admission Program.

Step 1: Apply for Admission and Activate Your Student Account
- If you are NOT a current dual enrollment student at MDC, you must apply for Dual Enrollment Admission at MDC
- Once Admissions Application for Dual Enrollment has been processed - students will receive an assigned MDC ID Number
- Activate your student account
Step 2: Provide Evidence of College Readiness
Student eligibility requirements for initial enrollment in college credit dual enrollment courses must include meeting a 3.5 unweighted high school grade point average (GPA) and demonstrated college readiness through the assessment of communication and computation skills (i.e., traditional and alternative tests or high school courses). Secondary School Counselors can refer students for placement testing or provide evidence of college readiness through alternative tests or high school courses.
- You can provide test scores for the following approved exams:
- PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10 (PSATNMSQ10)
- SAT
- PreACT
- ACT
- PERT
- ACCUPLACER NG
- FSA (End of Course Algebra/Geometry ONLY)
- ALEKS PPL
- If you don't have scores from any of these tests, you would need to arrange to take the PERT or ACCUPLACER placement either at your high school or at MDC.
- Meet with your secondary school counselor for more information on eligibility criteria including approved high school courses.

Step 3: Begin Adding Courses to Your Shopping Cart
- All courses taken as part of early admissions must be approved by your secondary school counselor
- Please work with your counselor when choosing your classes
- These classes count towards high school graduation so it is important that you select the right courses
