The functions performed by the Public Safety include many services, as well as certain
service functions unique to the college setting. The college presents a sensitive environment,
involving highly educated people, which requires a high degree of judgment, sophistication, knowledge, and
diplomacy on the part of department personnel.
Duties of the Public Safety include, but are not limited to, crime prevention through active campus
involvement, individual interactions and public educational endeavors, preventative patrols, service to
students and others in emergencies, special event coverage, control and supervision of traffic, overseeing
parking lot operations, maintenance of peace and order, the enforcement of college rules and regulations,
state laws, and the investigation of crimes and other campus related incidents.
