Program Overview

The Florida First Responder Scholarship Program is created to assist in the recruitment of law enforcement officers, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and firefighters within the state by providing financial assistance to trainees who enroll in an approved training program.

Eligible Programs

To be eligible for the scholarship award, a student must:

  • Not be sponsored by an employer that is already covering the cost of the training program, and
  • Be enrolled in one of the following programs:
    • Law Enforcement Basic Recruit Training
    • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Training approved by the Florida Department of Health
    • Paramedic Training meeting current national EMS educational standards
    • Firefighter Minimum Standards Course at a Florida-certified training center

Scholarships are awarded first-come, first-served, based on the date the school receives your completed application. Program funding depends on the Florida Legislature’s annual budget.

A maximum award equal to the amount needed to cover 100% of tuition and fees for eligible programs.

Tuition balance, fees, exams, books, uniforms, equipment and more. Out of states fees are not covered.

Students will be awarded while funds are available through June 30, 2026.

No, a FAFSA application is not required.
