Computer Use
To use the computer you must check out the Access Kit from the Service Desk.
- Turn on the flat screen by pressing the POWER (Ố) button on the flat screen remote control or pressing the ON/OFF button on the lower right edge of the monitor.
- Push the INPUT button on the flat screen remote; located above and to the right of the OK button.
- Use the UP and DOWN arrows, located above and below the OK button to select VGA.
- Press the OK button.
- Turn on the computer and logon with your student user name and password. Remember to set the logon to MYMDC.
- Be sure the CAPS LOCK is OFF.
- Adjust the computer volume by clicking the speaker icon on the desktop taskbar.
- Adjust the monitor volume by using the VOL + and VOL – buttons on the flat screen remote.
- Be considerate of your Library neighbors and adjust the volume only as loud as necessary.
- When you are through using the computer be sure to Log Off.
- Turn off the flat screen by pressing the POWER (Ố) button on the remote.
- Return the Access Kit to the Service Desk.
DVD Use
To view a DVD you must check out the Access Kit from the Service Desk.
- Turn on the flat screen by pressing the POWER (Ố) button on the flat screen remote control or pressing the ON/OFF button on the lower right edge of the monitor.
- Push the INPUT button on the flat screen remote; located above and to the right of the OK button.
- Use the UP and DOWN arrows, located above and below the OK button to select VGA.
- Press the OK button.
- Turn on the computer and logon with your student user name and password. Remember to set the logon to MYMDC.
- Be sure CAPS LOCK is OFF.
- Load the DVD into the top drawer of the computer, labeled with the DVD icon.
- Push the button under the top drawer to open it.
- Carefully place the DVD in the drawer (printed label side up).
- Push the button under the drawer to close it.
- Wait a few seconds and the DVD player software will start to play the DVD automatically.
- Adjust the computer volume by clicking the speaker icon on the desktop taskbar.
- Adjust the monitor volume by using the VOL + and VOL – buttons on the flat screen remote.
- Be considerate of your Library neighbors and adjust the volume only as loud as necessary.
- Make DVD menu selections using the mouse.
- When you are through watching the DVD push the button under the top drawer to eject the DVD.
- Carefully remove the DVD, place it back in its case and push the button under the top drawer to close it.
- When you are through using the computer be sure to LOG OFF.
- Turn off the flat screen by pressing the POWER (Ố) button on the remote.
- Return the DVD and Access Kit to the Service Desk.
Videotape – VHS VCR Use
To view a videotape you must check out the Access Kit from the Service Desk.
- Turn on the flat screen by pressing the POWER (Ố) button on the flat screen remote control or pressing the ON/OFF button on the lower right edge of the monitor.
- Push the INPUT button on the flat screen remote; located above and to the right of the OK button.
- Use the UP and DOWN arrows, located above and below the OK button to select AV1 (COMPSITE 1).
- Press the OK button.
- You must turn the computer ON to hear the video sound. Turn on the computer and logon with your student user name and password. Remember to set the logon to MYMDC.
- Be sure CAPS LOCK is OFF.
- Adjust the computer volume by clicking the speaker icon on the desktop taskbar.
- Adjust the monitor volume by using the VOL + and VOL – buttons on the flat screen remote.
- Be considerate of your Library neighbors and adjust the volume only as loud as necessary.
- Insert the videotape into the VCR and REWIND to be sure the tape starts from the beginning.
- After the tape is completely rewound, press the VCR PLAY button to view the tape.
- When you are done watching the videotape, rewind the tape completely, press the VCR STOP/EJECT button, remove the tape and put it back in the case.
- Turn off the flat screen by pressing the POWER (Ố) button on the remote.
- Return the videotape and Access Kit to the Service Desk.
HELPFUL HINTS
- Logon the computer with Caps Lock OFF.
- Be sure to use MYMDC for the logon.
- Flat screen remote INPUT “AV 1 (Composite 1)” is for watching VCR/Videotape.
- Flat screen remote INPUT “VGA” is for using the computer and watching DVDs.
- The top computer drawer is for playing DVDs.
- 4 USB ports are available on the computer front panel for plugging in the keyboard, mouse and flash drives.
- Check the sound levels.
- Double click the speaker icon (lower right corner of screen) and adjust the slider controls up.
- Uncheck the MUTE box.
- Adjust the monitor volume by using the VOL + and VOL – buttons on the flat screen remote.
