Eight Libraries, Statewide Resources

Each major center of Miami Dade College has its own library designed to meet the academic needs of its students, faculty and staff. Collectively, the eight libraries offer a wide variety of resources including books, e-books, audiovisual materials, magazines and journals.

College Libraries are also part of Florida Virtual Campus (FLVC), a statewide consortium that provides students and staff access to subscription databases with thousands of full-text articles. All electronic resources are available anytime, anywhere Internet is available. Librarians are available to assist with research needs and provide guidance on the use of resources.

Borrowing Privileges

Borrowing privileges are limited to patrons in the following categories:

  • Currently registered MDC students
  • MDC alumni (must be paid member of MDC Alumni Network)
  • MDC full-time employees
  • MDC part-time employees with letter from supervisor or department chairperson verifying employment for current semester
  • Florida College System and Florida SUS (State University System) borrowers (with valid ID from home institution).

Reciprocal Borrowing (Using your card in other libraries)

A valid MDC Card may be used for borrowing privileges at the libraries of all Florida College System and Florida State Universities.

Inter-Campus/Interlibrary Loan

Books or articles that are not available in your campus library may be obtained from other campuses via inter-campus loan (ICL), or from other institutions via inter-library loan (ILL). Items that can be obtained from libraries within the Florida College System are usually received within three to seven days. Other items may take up to two weeks to receive. The loan period for an ILL item depends on the policy of the lending institution.

Visit or call your campus library's reference desk for assistance with placing ICL or ILL requests.
