Our program is dedicated to promoting Holocaust awareness via college courses and co-curricular programs. With five courses on the subject, and on under development, the Holocaust Education Program is expanding to increase awareness and involvement from the MDC and local communities.
In collaboration with Miami Dade College’s efforts to encourage civic, social, and personal responsibility. The Holocaust Education Program will develop a deeper awareness and understanding of the impact of the Holocaust and Genocide upon students, pre-service teachers, and community members.
In 2008, professors Kaufman, Lamarre, and Munoz introduced EUH2032-History of the Holocaust to MDC, ushering in the Holocaust Education Program. From that start, the College expanded the program to 5 for-credit courses and presented over 100 community events reaching an audience of over 11,000. Programs have ranged from Kristallnacht commemorations to Genocide in the Congo.
