MDC Lends Hand to Nurses From Haiti

In the fall, MDC’s Medical Center Campus hosted 23 student nurses from University Notre Dame of Haiti's Nursing School. The collaboration with the Haitian American Nurses Association provided the student nurses with an opportunity to visit well-equipped schools and meet nursing students from other cultures. After the earthquake that ravaged Haiti on Jan. 12, 2010, now more than ever, understanding the importance of global nursing and the need to prepare the next generation of Haitian nurses is critical to rebuilding Haiti. Before coming to the United States to study, the student nurses were being taught in tents at their university back home.
