Programs and Position Types

All positions available through the Financial Aid Student Work Programs are on a part-time basis and may be available on and off campus.

On-campus positions to assist departments with clerical work and other duties as assigned.
On- and off-campus positions designed to benefit the community. This program includes jobs tutoring elementary school children with their reading skills in the Miami-Dade County Public School system (America Reads Program), as well as other job opportunities that are in the public interest (Community Service Work-Study).
On- and off-campus positions which complement and reinforce the students' educational and career goals. Off-campus positions available with a host of participating employers in the community.
On-campus positions available to assist departments with clerical and other duties as assigned. Positions are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Eligibility Requirements

Completion of a FAFSA is a pre-requisite to any Student Work Program. This will allow your Financial Aid Office to assess your eligibility with the exception of F1-Visa students.

The Student Assistant Orientation Workshop sharpens student employees' abilities, develops their professionalism, and boosts their productivity. With an emphasis on listening and learning, this program covers a variety of topics, such as:

  • Customer service
  • Time management
  • Phone skills
  • Work habits and attitudes

Upon successful completion, students will become confident team players that understand the connection between campus work and their future careers.

  • Your financial aid must be in processed status. Make sure you have submitted all your documents. Use Application Tracker to determine your status.
  • A minimum of 6 credit course enrollment ( 30 College prep limit rule applies). Once hired, you must maintain this credit minimum throughout the term and every term while in the work program.(except F-1 Visa students who must always be enrolled full time).
  • Must meet and maintain the Financial Aid Standards of Academic Progress to continue participating in the program once hired.
  • All work program participants must complete the “Partners” Student Assistant Orientation workshop once hired.
  • Must not have previously received a baccalaureate degree unless enrolled in an eligible educator preparation institute (FWEP only)
  • Must have a Florida residency for tuition purposes (FWEP only)
