the newly renovated Lehman Theatre at MDC’s North Campus glimmered with the timeless beauty and elegance of classical dance when the International Ballet Festival of Miami presented its International Young Medalist Performance in September.
More than two dozen award-winning dancers showcased their talents in the captivating performance made possible through MDC’s collaboration with the Miami Hispanic Ballet. The young medal winners hail from various international ballet competitions that have been held in collaboration with Youth America Grand Prix.
Now in its 17th year, the International Ballet Festival of Miami brings together stars from the world’s most prestigious dance companies in a series of performances throughout Miami-Dade County. The two-week festival featured ballet performances, workshops, a dance film series, an art exhibition and several master classes. Miami Dade College, which has served as a cultural beacon throughout its 50-year history, is proud to present this acclaimed festival.
“The annual International Young Medalist Performance is a golden opportunity for the Miami community to appreciate international up-and-coming talent,” said North Campus President Dr. José A. Vicente. “North Campus, with its newly renovated state-of-the-art Complex of the Arts, is proud to promote the arts through this presentation during the International Ballet Festival of Miami.”
