Professor Albert Lenel
MDC Philosophy Professor Albert Lenel led one of the many seminars offered at InterAmerican Campus during the Black Lives Matter series.

A Closer Look at a Tough Topic

This spring, against the backdrop of the larger national conversation around police brutality, MDC’s InterAmerican Campus hosted a series of talks, panels and presentations on the Black Lives Matter movement. The events provided a forum for discussion on the subject as seen through the lens of various disciplines.

Parallels were drawn between racial prejudice and terrorism, equality and social justice, and environmental sustainability. The Black Lives Matter initiative was a cooperative effort of Project TAACT (Terrorism Awareness through College and Community Teamwork), the InterAmerican Campus GSELS (Global Sustainability and Earth Literacy Studies) Learning Network, Earth Ethics Institute and participating InterAmerican Campus faculty.
