Hery Paz

Growing up in Sancti Spiritus, Cuba, Hery Paz was surrounded by art and music. At the age of nine, he began studying classical music at the Ernesto Lecuona Music Conservatory. After graduating, he came to the United States in 2001 and continued his music training at Miami Dade College's Wolfson Campus, studying classical flute with Professor Lillian Santiago-Caballero.
In 2006, MDC Professor Dr. Michael DiLiddo introduced Paz to jazz. A year later, Paz represented Miami Dade College with the Wolfson's Hard Bop Ensemble in the prestigious International Jazz Festival of Umbria in Italy. In 2008 he received a full scholarship at Florida International University, studying with Professor Gary Campbell. Under Professor Jerry Bergonzi, Paz currently is completing a master's degree in jazz performance at New England Conservatory in Boston.
In between his studies, Paz has shared the stage with such jazz legends as Arturo Sandoval, Randy Brecker, Alex Norris, Gary Campbell, Adam Nussbaum, Rashan Ross, Tom Garling, Mike Orta, Roy Assaf, Luques Curtis, Bobby Carcasses and Osmany Paredes.
