A few of the many internationally recognized publishing professionals who will participate in the event include: Morgan Entrekin, Publisher, Grove/Atlantic; Dedi Felman, Senior Editor, Simon & Schuster, Words Without Borders; Carol Fredericks, Sanford Greenburger Agency; Daniel Halpern, Publisher, Ecco/HarperCollins; Lucinda Karter, Agent, French Publishers Agency;  Peter Mayer, Publisher, Overlook Press; Chad Post, Director, Open Letter Books; David Rieff, Author & Policy Analyst; Nan Talese, Publisher, Nan Talese Books/Doubleday; Johnny Temple, Publisher, Akashic Books; and Steve Wasserman, Agent, Kneerim & Williams.

The Translation Market is presented by the MBFI and BEA and is sponsored by Criticas, Publishers Weekly and Library Journal; it will take place at the Wolfson Campus of Miami Dade College in Downtown Miami, FL.

The Translation Market will serve to enhance the nation’s largest and finest literary event. For more than two decades, the Miami Book Fair International has presented the most influential writers in the Americas and beyond, attracting half a million book lovers every year to Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus. Over eight days from Nov. 4-11, the fair will present a stellar schedule of authors, including Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, Richard Russo, Rosie O’Donnell, Edwidge Danticat, Paul Krugman, Chris Matthews and Michael Ondaatje.   The popular Street Fair on the weekend of Nov. 9-11 will offer outdoor exhibits by nearly 250 national and international booksellers and publishers, International Pavilions featuring the dynamic languages of Brazil, France and Spain, plus the Antiquarian Annex, Children’s Alley, and much more.

“I am enormously pleased that we have been able to enter into this arrangement with the Miami Book Fair,” notes Lance Fensterman, Event Director for BEA.  “This conference will offer world class education and information on the subject of world literature and translations, as well as offer the opportunity to discover new authors and books from around the world for a deeper and more thorough understanding of the world literature market.  It’s a perfect fit for BEA and we look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with The Miami Book Fair as we will certainly be looking to expand the program in years ahead.”

“This is a natural evolution for The Miami Book Fair, which is located in the most international city in the Western Hemisphere – Miami," said Dr. Eduardo J. Padrón, president of Miami Dade College and Miami Book Fair International honorary chair and co-founder. "Our objective in developing this conference has been to invite the very top editors, translators, publishers, authors, literary agents, foreign scouts, rights managers, librarians and other industry representatives to examine together the current topics and future prospects of translation literary rights, thus providing an unparalleled forum for the discussion of the state of translation – past, present, and future.”

Organizers of both MBFI and BEA note that future growth and development of The Translation Market may involve establishing a Translation Market commerce and business community area where buyers and sellers may exhibit and view titles, as well as meet individually for private business meetings.  BEA will produce podcasts of all of this year’s Translation Market conference events which will be widely distributed post-show and available on the BEA website.  BEA will also be responsible for online marketing of the event via a personalized email campaign, as well as a dedicated web page and password protected social networking/show planning platform.

Registration and further information for The Translation Market is online at www.thetranslationmarket.com.  Early-bird registration fee (by October 12) is $125.  Regular registration fee (by November 2) is $175.  Late registration fee (on-site) is $195 *excludes lunch.
