Certification Review Courses (Training Support Provided)

Behavioral Health Technician Certificate

The Behavioral Health Technician Certificate is an entry-level training program for persons who assist primary counselors and therapeutic staff by providing clinical support services to adults or children who are receiving substance abuse or mental health services in residential programs, in-patient settings or community-based programs. The course covers various content areas related to behavioral health, including, but not limited to, nursing assistant skills, physical assessment, depression, schizophrenia, personality disorders, charting, crisis intervention, employability skills, leadership and human relations skills, and health and safety. This course also prepares individuals for the state certification exam.

This project is supported by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) under grant project number 1 G02HP27906-01-00 and the Behavioral Health Workforce Training Program for $893,982.00. Community Health Worker Certificate

The Community Health Worker (CHW) is a frontline professional who functions as a liaison between health/social service providers and the community to facilitate access to services and improve the quality and cultural competence of service delivery (American Public Health Association 2010). In this program, students will gain and/or enhance their knowledge of the CHW profession as well as prepare for the state certification exam.
