It is summer time again!  Kids and teens are ready to explore fun activities as they head off to camp. Here at Miami Dade College, children and teens have enjoyed a fun and safe environment since the summer of 1993 when we offered our first Summer Camp. This year is no different. Children and teens will have the possibility to attend Summer Camps in five different MDC locations throughout Miami-Dade County: Kendall, North, West, Wolfson and Homestead Campus.

Summer Camp Programs

  • LEGO®

    This class is an introduction to building and programming robots using the new LEGO® Mindstorms NXT Robotics System. Structured lessons and challenges will introduce intermediate level construction, use of sensors, and programming topics, using the new NXT intelligent brick with servo style motors and ultrasonic sensor. In pairs, students build robots and program them with a computer to move, react, and make sounds in order to solve challenges. Drop-off and Pick-Up at Building G. Camp location: Homestead Campus.   • LEGO®

    Using the LEGO’s Mindstorms NXT Intelligent Brick, students will explore the limitless possibilities of these intricate gadgets. This course will guide them through three phases: the building, programming and testing of the robots. Practical lessons will help expand basic understanding of robotics such as structure, sensing, manipulation and locomotion. Drop-off and Pick-Up at Building G. Camp location: Homestead Campus.   • LEGO® EV3 Robotics: Engineering and Design Level 1

    This hands-on, collaborative course will immerse students in the exciting and popular world of robotics. Working in small teams, students will explore topics like gear ratios, locomotion and energy as they construct robots with the LEGO® Mindstorms NXT Robotics kit. They will learn how to design, build, program and control your robots while putting them through a series of real-world design challenges. They will build robots with motors and sensors to explore the environment and perform tasks. Teams will create an explorer robot to maneuver around obstacles, a robot arm that picks up objects, a snake robot that rattles and strikes, and a robot batter that hits pitches.   • Youth Workforce Camp

    Youth will learn practical Workforce Training Skills and be placed in an internship at the end of the course. Participants will gain: Workforce readiness preparation and knowledge, career exploration, basic life and employability skills, CPR and First Aid Certification from the American Heart Association, self-esteem and social competence building exercises and general computer, typing and business etiquette skills. *For students in Grades 6-12*.   • GAME

    This week-long summer program introduces teens to the world of entrepreneurship. Whether you want to launch a company, start a non-profit or just be prepared for life after high school, this is the program for you. This is more than just a fun summer program. It is a unique addition to your resume, whether you are applying to college, and internship or a job. You will learn an array of skills including business planning, presenting, teamwork, project management, and professional networking.   • Chinese Culture and Language Camp

    The School of Continuing Education & Professional Development is partnering with the Miami Dade College Confucius Institute to offer a one-of-a-kind summer camp experience. Chinese culture is one of the oldest civilizations with a rich and ancient history. Chinese philosophy, art, and science greatly affected the development of the western world, and it continues to be an influential power even today. Though our children live half a world away, they have every reason to learn about and be inspired by China’s many traditions. This camp aims to help children develop cultural awareness and heighten their knowledge of global communities through interactive lessons and activities. Campers will learn language basics to communicate in Mandarin Chinese, learn about the art of Chinese calligraphy, participate and host tea ceremonies, and learn martial arts skills. Students may bring lunch from home or have the option of purchasing a lunch package at $35 for the week.     Do you have a passion for video games? Get your game on and learn what it takes to be a player in a $100 billion global game industry. Learn the basic technical and creative skills used by game studio developers in this week-long interactive camp. Learn the basic functions of the powerful Autodesk Maya software and major features used for creating content for video games. Also explore major legal and business issues involved in game development. Students may bring lunch from home or have the option of purchasing a lunch package at $35 for the week.     Elevate your game animation to the next level. Learn to use the powerful Autodesk Maya software as you learn the major features used for creating content for video games.     Graphic Design Camp
    Ages 13-17 | $220

    If you have ever had an ad leave you speechless or saved packaging that was just too beautiful to throw away, your design literacy may be stronger than you realize. This week-long summer program will allow you to explore your creativity and develop and improve your graphic design skills while mastering professional design tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. At the end of the program you will have created a small portfolio of work that can be shared with friends and family or prospective clients. Students may bring lunch from home or have the option of purchasing a lunch package at $35 for the week.   • ART Portfolio

    ART Portfolio Camp
    Ages 12-16 | $185

    Students ages 12 to 16 will be introduced to the different color relationships, to the techniques of mixing colors, color layering their paint appropriately and planning a painted composition.   • Wannadraw Summer Camp

    Youth will enhance their creativity and artistic skills by working with different artistic media. Students will have the chance to work with clay, acrylic paint, charcoal, pencil, watercolor, plaster and printing. They will learn how to use these materials while expressing their original creativity by choosing their own subject matter.   • Let's Dance

    Daily instruction includes emphasis on individual volleyball skills. Focus on fundamentals of setting, passing, serving, hitting, and blocking and floor defense. Camp also develops the emphasis on the fundamentals of team training.



  • Latin Jazz Experience

    For music enthusiasts in grades 6-12. Have fun while developing your skills in jazz improvisation. Improve your music theory skills and understanding of jazz and Latin jazz styles. Make friends, perform in small groups and jam with some of Miami’s top jazz instructors. All instruments are welcome: piano, bass, guitar, drums, woodwind, brass and strings.   • Let's Dance

  • Tennis Camp

    Tennis Camp
    Ages 6-17 | $135

    Our Tennis Camp will provide campers with a fun filled week in which they are exposed to the latest cutting edge tennis training methods. Our special mix of instruction, team competition, and off court activities make these sessions ones campers will remember for the rest of their lives.     Offering an exciting and educational summer camp for youth ages 6-11. Our camp is designed around career exploration, and provide fun, hands-on activities that promise to develop and build key skills for future success. Many entertaining and fun filled activities such as arts and crafts, games, and much more which will be an unforgettable adventure full of inspiring accomplishments and new friends!

  • Arts and Eco

    Arts and Eco Camp
    Ages 6-14 | $225

    A fun, nurturing environment for budding artists. Young artists will focus their artistic talents on art projects inspired by the natural world. Conceptual, installation, oil, watercolors or acrylic – connections are made between the environment and art. Projects in the North Campus Green Urban Living Center entwine art and the natural world students inhabit. Environmental activities will include maintaining and harvesting a vegetable garden, and care and tending of a Monarch butterfly garden. Field trips to the beach and another environmental location give young artists an opportunity to observe and connect with these environments, and, as a result, create art at field trip locations. At the end of the camp students exhibit their best works in a juried exhibition. Breakfast, lunch and snacks included. Drop-off at building 400.   • CSI Miami Camp

    Ever wondered what it would be like to be a real CSI and scientist? Come join us and our experienced faculty in the fields of science and crime scene investigations in a hands on, cutting edge, highly interactive crime scene /science camp. This two week camp focuses on those individuals with the passion to pursue careers in crime scene investigations and forensic science. Activities will include crime scene documentation, shooting and bloodstain reconstruction, fingerprinting, DNA analysis, trace evidence, including paint chip analysis and bullet comparisons to name just a few.     Do you want to be a fashion Designer or just learn how to sew your own clothes? This Camp is for you! Participate in a catwalk Fashion Show to showcase your creations!     Amazing Week Full of Fun! Children will learn basic static structures used in robotics by applying the fundamentals of math and science concepts while building and programming their robots.   • MDC Film Institute Camp

    This summer, dream big... and then make it happen. The MDC Film Institute is your chance to make a movie, your movie. During this two week camp, you will write, shoot and edit a short film. Students will see their ideas take shape under the guidance of MDC's professional instructors. Learning has never been so much fun.   • Music Camp

    Ages 8-16 | $225

    This program is for youth who want to learn a musical instrument from scratch or enhance their current skills in music. Students will receive instruction from professional musicians and educators in Music Theory and Production, Piano, Guitar and Chorus & Ensemble Playing. Students will also have the opportunity to make a recording of what they have learned during the camp at the MDC’s new state-of-the-art. Session concludes with a final performance.   • Performing Arts Camp

    Performing Arts Camp
    Ages 6-12 | $225

    Become a star! Learn about performance, makeup and costuming. We will introduce your child to various dance styles such as ballet, hip-hop, jazz, and belly dance as well as voice and acting. Everyone participates in an end of camp performance in the state-of-the-art Lehman Theatre. Lunch and snacks included. Breakfast, lunch and snacks included. Drop-off at building 300.   • Robotics Camp

    During the 4-week long Robotics Camp, students will learn to assemble and program NXT Lego Robots by using National Instruments LabView programming. Additionally, MDCPS and MDC North STEM faculty members will teach them how to program Arduino circuit boards, SolidWorks 3D modeling software, and will be exposed to 3D printing. At the end of the Camp, the students will participate in an exciting 2-day Robotics Challenge where they will compete in teams to win first, second, and third place prizes. Limited to 50 students.     The technology summer camp provides students with fun, hands-on, project-based learning from experienced instructors and guest lecturers. Students will be exposed to a variety of coding concepts and techniques and will learn the necessary skills to create their very own mobile applications. Limited space available!   • Animation Camp

    Ages 14-19 | $395

    Students ages 14-19 will get an introduction to character design and animation using Autodesk® Maya®, the application used by top video game development and film studios. Skills development will focus on the use of Autodesk ”Maya” and Adobe Photoshop. This class is project based; students will have the opportunity to complete a portfolio of their own animation.     Students ages 14-19 will learn the premier 3D modeling, animation, effects, and rendering software packages on the market. Using the industry-standard, intuitive toolset featured in Autodesk® Maya® realistic 3D models will be created and prepare them for game play in a gaming engine.
