The English for Academic Purposes Program fulfills an important mission in assisting the immigrant population in the Miami-Dade County area to learn the English language in order to facilitate continuing education and entry into mainstream America.

The English for Academic Purposes program is divided into six levels. Each level includes classes in Speech, Grammar, Reading, and Writing. Students are also required to take a Speech Lab and a Writing lab at each level.

Students wishing to enroll in the program take a placement test (ACT) and write a sample paragraph to assess language proficiency. The results of these assessments place the student in the appropriate level. At the end of the six levels of English for Academic Purposes, students are encouraged to enroll in two accent improvement courses to further improve their language skills. Students receive classroom support through the use of the Language Lab and the Writing Lab, which are an integral part of the program of instruction.
