Biography

Randal Tomasello is a jazz composer, arranger and pianist. He received degrees and completed graduate work in jazz performance and arranging at The University of Miami and Music Theory at The University of Wisconsin-Madison. He studied jazz composition and arranging with Gary Lindsay, jazz piano with Vince Maggio, and assisted renowned bassist Richard Davis as a Graduate Assistant. Tomasello has taught music theory, jazz piano, and jazz studies for over 30 years, and performed and recorded with many notable popular and jazz artists, including Gladys Knight, Jimmy Heath, Larry Coryell, and the late Mel Torme. He has recorded both solo piano as well as quintet CD's, composing much of the material. Other compositions of his can be heard on Concert Jazz Band and Jazz Vocal I recordings by the University of Miami. He is currently a Professor at Miami Dade College Kendall Campus, and continues to write for and record with his jazz quintet.
