![]() Joe A. Martínez |
Protect and serve: There’s no denying that Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman Joe A. Martínez, who got his start at MDC, has fulfilled both parts of that mission throughout his 25-plus years of service to South Floridians. Beginning as a Miami-Dade police officer in 1984, he moved up the ranks to lieutenant, saving lives and earning more than 70 awards and commendations along the way. Now chairing the County Commission, Martínez recognizes the vital role MDC played in molding him into a public servant of the highest caliber.
“In my years as a public servant, I’ve had the immensely good fortune to be able to help countless people in our great community,” Martínez said. “My experience at Miami Dade College was invaluable; it honed the skills I needed for a life dedicated to public service.”
