After building up a 30-year career in leadership as a professional engineer for private, county and state authorities, MDC alumnus Johnny Martínez is applying those leadership skills in a new arena: city management. Recently appointed city manager of Miami, Martínez will now be overseeing the daily operations of a city with a budget of more than $500 million and 3,500 employees.
Martínez earned his Associate of Arts degree from Miami Dade College in 1972. “Miami Dade College, a true reflection of the most diverse city in the country, opens the opportunity of affordable higher education to students from all over the world,” Martínez said. “I am a proud alumnus of such a respected and esteemed institution.”
