This spring The Center for Writing and Literature at MDC (The Center @ MDC) celebrated its 10th edition of the Miami Writers Institute with four days of intensive workshops led by renowned authors and publishers. Participants hailed from as far away as London and Aruba.

This year‘s program included workshops in poetry, fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels and publishing, among other specialties. Aspiring writers had their manuscripts reviewed by leading literary agent Andy Kifer. Participants also enjoyed Lunchtime Reads by Writers Institute faculty and two happy hour events free and open to the public: First Draft: A Literary Social at the new Books & Books Arsht Center location and a happy hour mingle at 180 degrees @ the DRB.

Featured writers included poet Aimee Nezhukumatathil, suspense writer Benjamin Percy, narrative expert Kate Christensen, graphic story artist George O’Connor, plot specialist Lynne Barrett and publishing guru Rachel Deahl.
