Pictures Worth a Thousand Words

The world’s leading Spanish-language news organization Agencia EFE is putting its legacy in the trusted hands of Miami Dade College, donating more than 75 images from its globe-trotting exhibition EFE: 75 Years of History to the College.

The MDC Museum of Art + Design (MOA+D) is joining forces with the MDC Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archives to steward the photos in a joint special collection consisting of brilliantly captured moments and people of the 20th and 21st centuries. Starting with the agency’s inception in Spain in 1939, as war began to spread throughout Europe, EFE has and continues to document turning points in modern history that render this collection of images a treasure to humanity worldwide.

The exhibition 75 Years of EFE: Wars, Triumphs, Disasters, People and Politics will open at MOA+D on Feb. 18, 2016.

“Miami Dade College has been collecting art for more than 50 years and has a long tradition of acquiring engaging and important works of art and design,” said MOA+D Executive Director Jeremy Mikolajczak. “As an actively collecting institution, we are excited to bring this important aspect of the Museum to the public.”
