The Good News Continues

The Reporter has been named the top state college student newspaper in Florida for the fifth year in a row. The award-winning staff placed in 15 out of 18 individual categories – including 12 first-place awards – at the recent Florida College System Publications Association (FCSPA) awards ceremony in Orlando. The paper has won 74 FCSPA awards in the past five years, including 47 first-place honors.

Besides placing first in general excellence, the paper won first- place honors in In-Depth Reporting, Feature Story, Sports Writing, News Photo, Design, Arts Review, Feature Story, Illustration, Editorial Cartoon, Sports Photo, Comic Strip and Humor Column.

The Reporter is a great place to learn and grow as a journalist,” said Daniela Hurtado, who served as the paper’s editor-in-chief last year and is currently at the University of Florida majoring in telecommunication news.

The Reporter is a biweekly publication with a circulation of 10,250 supplemented by a website with video and audio content. It is distributed at all eight MDC campuses and has newsrooms at the Kendall, North and Wolfson campuses.
