Academic Advisement

Miami Dade Students TalkingWhy you need to see an academic advisor
Academic advisors meet with you at least once every semester to help you decide the classes you need to take and in what order. An advisor keeps your overall academic goals in mind while thinking about which courses are available. Advisors also assist you in picking a major that will help you enter the career of your choice after graduation.

If you are taking college prep courses or if you are undecided about your major, you need to meet with someone from the Academic Advisement department to register. Once you have completed your college prep courses and have selected a major, you will get an advisor from the academic department housing your major.
