Arts and Philosophy

Art - The conscious production or arrangement of sounds, colors, forms, movements or other elements in a manner that affects the sense of beauty, specifically the production of the beautiful in a graphic or plastic medium. The study of these activities.

Philosophy - Love and pursuit of wisdom by intellectual means and moral self-discipline. Investigation of the nature, causes, or principles of reality, knowledge, or values, based on logical reasoning rather than empirical methods. A system of thought based on or involving such inquiry.

John Adkins has been successful in every aspect of his career. After teaching drawing, painting, design, and computer aided design in Tennessee, Mississippi and Illinois, for the last six years, this art expert whose works have been exhibited throughout the country including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Atlanta, decided to find new challenges at Miami Dade College.

Professor Adkins has been with the Miami Dade College family since 2005.


The faculty works hard to make the art experience a positive one. Each student is treated with respect and as an individual. We recognize every student situation is different and explore all options to help our students attain the highest level of success.
