Born in Bolivia, Professor Barrientos moved to the United States in 1974, where he completed an AA from Miami Dade College and moved on to continue his studies at the University of Miami.
After working in the private sector for six (6) years, he joined the mathematics faculty at MDC Kendall Campus where he later assumed the position of Chairperson.
Professor Barrientos has been with the Miami Dade College family since 1991.
