Dr. Sigler sent an e-mail announcing the schedule for spring convocation. Coffee will be served from 8:00 a.m. till 8:30 a.m. Convocation is from 8:30 a.m. till 10:00 a.m. followed by a faculty meeting until 11:00 a.m.
Conference Day will be held on Kendall Campus and all faculty and staff are invited to attend the conference. Various concurrent sessions will be held in the morning and individuals will be able to choose the sessions they plan to attend. The different disciplines, departments and schools will meet independently in the afternoon. It was agreed that the School of Nursing and the School of Allied Health would meet separately.
Dr. Lukenbill sent a memo listing the appointments for the eight student services positions that had been posted at level 18. Virginia Fuillerat is the new Director of Transition and Retention Center at the Medical Center Campus. Arcie Ewell announced that Ms. Fuillerat would start in the new position on January 2, 2001. Eight new positions, level 16, were published with a closing deadline of December 12, 2000. The decisions on these positions will be made by Friday, December 15, 2000.
Arcie Ewell stated that the College would be open for registration and advisement on Wednesday, December 27th, Thursday, December 28th, and Friday, December 29th.
The hours are 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Schools of Allied Health and Nursing will each have an administrator on call for the above days.
Carol Petrozella announced that eight individuals attended the Human Patient Simulator Training on December 8th. The adjunct faculty orientation is December 12, 2000 at 5:00 p.m. The Spring CT & D calendar was distributed. Registration for all workshops is online. A schedule for the computer lab for December 11th – 15th was also distributed. Ellyn Biggs will be on campus the entire week to help faculty input their grades. The computer lab, room 2301, will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for the faculty.
Miguel Menendez recommended that all staff and faculty plan to attend a Word workshop. Eventually Word Perfect will be phased out and everyone will have to use Word.
Miguel Menendez reported that the Human Patient Simulator was successfully moved to Channel 23 studios for the shooting on Saturday, December 9, 2000. Nelson Pena in the Success Center and a Respiratory Student demonstrated the simulator, CHRIS, on national television.
Four training sessions have been offered for cold fusion and over fifty faculty have been trained. Ellyn Biggs will be available to help train and problem solve with the faculty.
Diane Loffredo met with Carol Petrozella and her HSC 0001 class on Saturday to obtain feedback on the course. Students made recommendations and suggestions for the course. It was suggested that Medical Center Campus advisors participate in the classes devoted to health care careers.
Fran Aronovitz announced that HT Medical Systems will be on campus December 12, 2000 around 10:00 a.m. Medical Systems will be demonstrating a virtual reality system for IV therapy.
