Dr. Mercedes A. Quiroga is a native of Havana, Cuba and a long-time Florida resident. She has been with Miami Dade College for over twenty years and has occupied various roles including faculty member, Director of Student Retention, and Chairperson of the Department of Arts and Philosophy. Prior to her appointment to the presidency of the Wolfson Campus, she served as Provost and CEO of New World School of the Arts.
Dr. Quiroga holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Florida and a Master of Arts degree in Art History as well as a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Miami. Dr. Quiroga has been an active member of several academic, professional, and community organizations including Americans for the Arts, the Miami Shores Fine Arts Commission, the Women’s Leadership Council for the United Way, and the Florida Association of Community Colleges. Recently, she was inducted to the Hall of Fame of Notre Dame Academy, her high school alma mater.
