Beginning with 2007-2, RTE 1000 (Introduction to Radiography) will now be offered to all students interested in an imaging career in any of our four programs. The course contains information on all of our imaging programs, as well as a sample of the type of learning that will be required by you to succeed in any of these programs.
As students interested in the field of imaging, or just wanting to find out if you are interested, you now have a new option to help determine the correct path for your career, if you meet the requirements. This course will be offered each year in fall, spring, and summer A and B. This is how this 2 credit course works for each of our programs:
Radiologic Technology: This is a first semester course for students admitted to the program. You may, however, take it the prior spring and not take it in Summer B (the program's first semester) if you choose. The 2 credits will count toward your degree in Radiologic Technology.
Nuclear Medicine Technology: This is a first semester course for students admitted to the program. You may, however, take it the prior spring and not take it in Summer A (the program's first semester) if you choose. The 2 credits will count toward your degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Radiation Therapy: This is an option for students if they would like more information on the imaging programs and what it takes to succeed in this field, but the credits will not count toward your degree in Radiation Therapy.
Diagnostic Medical Sonography:
This is an option for students if they would like more information on the imaging programs and what it takes to succeed in this field, but the credits will not count toward your degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
The general education courses that must be completed with a passing grade of "C" or better before you can register for RTE 1000 are:
ENC 1101
PHI 2604
BSC 2085
BSC 2085
In addition, you must have documented math capability.
