AS DEMOCRACY’S COLLEGE, MIAMI DADE COLLEGE HELPS BUILD THE PEOPLE WHO MOVE AMERICA FORWARD.
For decades, MDC has helped shape the people who shape this country. Students, educators, innovators and civic leaders who understand that democracy works best when knowledge leads the way.
A more perfect future doesn’t happen by accident. It’s built through learning, participation and responsibility. That work starts here, at MDC.
America 250 at Miami Dade College brings our community together to explore history, elevate voices and imagine the future of our democracy. Whether through events, storytelling, service or creative expression, there are many ways to participate.
Supporting the America 250 Fund helps expand programming, scholarships and initiatives that empower new generations to pursue their American Dream through the transformative power of education.
Throughout the year, MDC campuses will host events that bring history, education and civic dialogue into the present. These moments are designed to spark curiosity, encourage conversation and connect our community across disciplines and generations.
For 250 years, America has thrived on ideas in action. Through America 250 at MDC, students will showcase talents in contests spanning visual and literary arts, film and welding —engaging with history, civic responsibility and the future of democracy.
America is defined by the experiences of its people. Students, alumni, faculty and community members are invited to share stories that reflect the values, challenges and opportunities that shape our nation. Your story is part of the American story.
Each year, MDC Sharks volunteer thousands of hours, visiting seniors, cleaning neighborhoods and hosting voter registration drives, helping to foster civic engagement, promote education and empower students to make a difference in their communities.
For 250 years, the American story has been shaped by people willing to learn, question and participate. Miami Dade College is proud to be part of that legacy and committed to preparing the generations who will carry it forward.
Because a more perfect future doesn’t belong to history. It belongs to those building it now.
An educated citizenry is a vital requisite for our survival as a free people.
