The Early Childhood Education Associate in Science degree program provides the student with appropriate coursework in one of three tracks: Preschool, Infant-Toddler, or Administrator.

Program Details

The A.S. degree is designed for students who are looking for immediate entry into a career upon graduation. Most discipline courses directly relate to the identified career area. The remaining courses are comprised of general education courses.

Students may complete the Florida Child Care Professional Certificate (FCCPC), Advanced Director's Credential, and/or College Credit Certificates as part of their Associate in Science degree. Areas of study in this program include:

  • Infant-Toddler Environments
  • High/Scope Approach
  • Developing Curriculum for Infants and Toddler
  • Working with Young Children with Special Needs

Career Prospects

The U.S. Department of Education projects a shortage of skilled teachers in the coming years. Graduates of this program will be extremely well positioned for employment, whether in the state of Florida or nationwide. Nearly 100% of MDC's teaching programs graduates find employment in the field. Graduates of this program may find employment in job roles such as:
