A Moving Tribute to Nature

Just in time for Earth Day this spring, the currents of the ocean came to life in the form of choreography by New World School of the Arts Professor Dale Andree during the National Water Dance.

What began as a local effort to draw attention to water issues morphed into a nationwide event. Andree founded the nonprofit National Water Dance organization and choreographed the dance, which is held simultaneously each year near various bodies of water.

This year, while NWSA dancers performed Andree’s work at Deering Estate along Biscayne Bay in Miami, other groups of dancers did the same in 31 other states, at sites including Ohio’s Cuyahoga River, Louisiana’s Bayou DeSiard and Indiana’s Jordan River, to name just a few.
