  • Description:  If you're interested in enrolling in Army ROTC and you are in college, you can start by taking an Army ROTC basic elective course. If you have at least two or more years remaining toward your undergraduate degree but not enough time to complete the Basic Course, you can enter the Army ROTC Advanced Course by completing the Leader's Training Course held at Fort Knox, Kentucky, during the summer. Talk to your campus Military Science department about other ways to join Army ROTC and incentives available, including opportunities to compete for two-, three-, or four-year scholarships.
Women's Independence Scholarship Program

  • Description: WISP, Inc. has the mission to enhance efforts to end domestic violence by offering access to higher education. To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, the applicant must be a woman who is a direct survivor of intimate partner abuse, be currently attending (or thinking about attending school ) at a 2 or 4-year college, a technical institute, or a training school,  be a citizen or legal resident of the United States, demonstrates a critical need for financial assistance, has a definite plan to use the desired training to upgrade skills for career advancement, to train for a new career field, or to enter or reenter the job market, and has sought services from a non-profit, domestic violence agency for a minimum of 6 consecutive months, and this agency is willing act as sponsor by mentoring and providing support to the student throughout her educational experience. Scholarship recipients must achieve and maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA to remain in the program. Special consideration will be given to those interested in using their education to further the rights of, and options for, women and girls. Funds to assist with expenses for graduate school are limited. Support is available for full or part-time students interested in attending accredited programs at educational institutions. Preference will be given to state supported community colleges, colleges or universities. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis, but should be submitted no later than 2 months before the start date of the program to be attended. Scholarship is renewable. A typed statement responding to some questions, sponsorship agreement form, and letters of recommendation are required.

TEACH Grant

  • Description: The TEACH Grant Program provides grants of up to $4,000 a year to students who are completing or plan to complete course work needed to begin a career in teaching. As a condition for receiving a TEACH Grant, you must sign a TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve in which you agree to (among other requirements) teach in a high-need field; at an elementary school, secondary school, or educational service agency that serves students from low-income families; and for at least four complete academic years within eight years after completing (or ceasing enrollment in) the course of study for which you received the grant. For any 2015–16 TEACH Grant first disbursed on or after Oct. 1, 2015, and before Oct. 1, 2016, the maximum award of $4,000 is reduced by 6.8 percent ($272), resulting in a maximum award of $3,728. Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant

  • Description: The Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant is awarded to a student whose parent or guardian died as a result of performing military service in Iraq or Afghanistan after September 11, 2001 and the student is not receiving a Federal Pell Grant only because of that program's need requirement, but meet the remaining Federal Pell Grant eligibility requirements. The grant is not based on financial need nor is it considered estimated financial assistance that reduces the amount of any other Federal student aid that the student may also qualify for. The grant award is equal to the amount of a maximum Pell Grant for the award year, not to exceed the cost of attendance for that award year. Applicants should be under 24 years old or should be studying in college at least part-time at the time of the parent's or guardian's death. For any 2015–16 Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant first disbursed on or after Oct. 1, 2014, and before Oct. 1, 2015, the maximum award of $5,775 is reduced by 7.3 percent ($421.57), resulting in a maximum award of $5,353.43. LA Tutors Scholarship

The Wells Fargo Veterans Emergency Grant Program makes immediate grants available to eligible veterans who are pursuing a postsecondary degree, and who experience unexpected financial difficulties that might cause them to drop out of school. One-time grants up to $1,000 will be awarded on an ongoing basis while funds are available; grant amounts will be determined based on the cost of the emergency need.
