Be Part of the Pack!

Wolf Pack is a collaborative effort between STEM Legacy and Gateways. It is a three-tiered mentoring program consisting of faculty, second year college peer mentors, and first year mentees. Peer mentors are supported and guided by faculty to maintain academic excellence, while they in turn support first year students with their transition to college life. The program runs for one academic year, beginning in September and ending in April. Peer mentors individually meet with both their faculty mentors and mentees at least one time per month during the length of the program. Students have a choice of choosing between two tracks: Emotional Intelligence & Civic Engagement, sponsored by Gateways, and STEM Innovation, sponsored by STEM Legacy.

Mentee Program Benefits

Mentees receive guidance and support in their next stage of life—college. Peer mentors who excelled during their first year of college provide valuable insight of college life, resources, and the many opportunities available to their designated mentee. Benefits also include participation in social activities, meeting new people, and gaining both social and academic confidence. Mentees who complete all program requirements are eligible to receive up to $100/term.

Peer Mentor Program Benefits

Peer mentors have a designated faculty mentor who can support them through the complexities of transferring to an institution of their choice. The diverse role of peer mentor allows them to gain servant leadership skills, polish success strategies, and develop a strong sense of campus community. While these skills are being attained, peer mentors make a difference by offering individual encouragement and guidance to their mentees throughout their first academic year. Peer Mentors who complete all program requirements are eligible to receive up to $300/term.
