Graduates of the program may be eligible to sit for either or both of the following categories of national certification examinations of the American Society for Clinical Pathology:

  • Histologic Technician Certification Examination
  • Histologic Technologist Certification Examination

Licensure

Histotechnicians and histotechnologist, who wish to practice in the state of Florida, must apply for licensure with the Board of Clinical Laboratory Personnel. They may make contact the board at:

Florida Health - Licensure Requirements

SPECIAL NOTE TO STUDENTS WITH BACHELOR'S DEGREE OR HIGHER

Students who have obtained a Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university with a combination of 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry AND successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician or Histotechnology program within the last 5 years therefore you will be eligible to sit for national certification exam for histotechnologist, after completing this program.
