Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, applicants must:

  • Be admitted to Miami Dade College
  • Applicants must have an active unencumbered Florida registered nurse license from an accredited nursing program or be license eligible after recent graduation (six months) from an accredited ASN program.
  • Recent ASN graduates within six months must attain an active unencumbered Florida RN license prior to second semester of the BSN program.
  • An earned A.S. Nursing degree from a regionally accredited college.
  • Students must have completed or be in process of completion of the required prerequisite course and general education requirements.
    • As an exception, students may be admitted to the RN to BSN Program pending no more than three pre-requisites. These must be completed by the end of the third semester
  • A minimum of a 2.0 cumulative GPA and 2.0 GPA in nursing coursework from a regionally accredited A.S. Nursing program, or equivalent.

The BLSON is pleased to announce that effective for the Fall 2021 admission cycle, applicants who have met all admissions criteria including all pre-requisite courses will be considered for admission on a rolling admission cycle. Applicants who are in progress with completing three pre-requisites pending will also be considered in the regular admission period.  With rolling admissions, the BLSON will evaluate applications as they are received versus waiting to evaluate all applications after a hard deadline.

Seamless Transition Option

This track is designed for students who are graduating from the MDC Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree program and have submitted an application to the RN-BSN program and are scheduled to take their NCLEX RN examination within the semester of acceptance to the RN-BSN program.

  • Students are only allowed to take the first two eight week mini semester of the program without licensure (NUR 3069, NUR 3805 first 8 weeks and NUR 3125 and NUR 4146, second eight weeks).
  • Student must present their license/pass boards by the deadline date given on acceptance email and present documentation.
  • Failure in passing boards prohibits progression in program.
  • After successful completion of the NCLEX Exam, present a copy of the Florida RN license to the RN to BSN Student Advisor or the RN-BSN Chairperson.

Applying to the RN to BSN Program (For first time students of the MDC School of Nursing)

To be admitted to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, applicants must:

  • Have an active unencumbered Florida registered nurse license
  • Have earned an A.S. Nursing degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • A minimum of a 2.0 cumulative GPA and 2.0 GPA in nursing coursework from a regionally accredited A.S. Nursing program, or equivalent.
  • Apply to Miami Dade College and the RN to BSN program.

Important Notification

Students must provide all required documentation (Level 2 Criminal Background Screening, AHCA background clearance, Urine Drug Screen, Vaccine, Titers, CPR certification) and be “Complio” compliant according to the School of Nursing guidelines and entered into the online tracking system used by Medical Campus.
