UpSkill Miami Scholarship

High Skill, High Wage, and High Demand Careers

Miami Dade College has partnered with United Way Miami to provide scholarships for students and future professionals in the South Florida healthcare community. Through this partnership, eligible students may receive FREE tuition, books, fees, uniform and a stipend. Scholarships are funded through United Way Miami’s workforce fund, UpSkill Miami.


Available Programs

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must submit a 2023-2024 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Must be a Miami-Dade County Resident
  • Must be earning below $35,000 or currently unemployed
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Provide proof of in-state residency
  • Pass Accuplacer Exam or be college level in Reading, English, Math
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Attend mandatory orientation
  • Must be admitted to one of the eligible programs listed at the MDC Medical Campus
Program is available for enrollment until the available spots are filled.

Additional Information

  • Students must meet program requirements before applying
  • Out-of-state students are responsible for additional out-of-state costs per credit not covered by the scholarship
  • Funds will be applied at the in-state tuition rate after all other resources available to cover tuition and fees have been applied
