Creating Opportunities for Applied Learning Experiences in Science, Computing, & Engineering (COALESCE)

The STEM Legacy COALESCE program was created to broaden students’ knowledge in their chosen fields, enrich their undergraduate experience, and jump start their careers in STEM. Students can participate in undergraduate research or internships in STEM.

For undergraduate research, COALESCE offers Wolfson Campus students the opportunity to work one-on-one with a MDC faculty member on available research/projects. Students will work on the research/project activities for 5-10 hours per week for both the Fall and Spring terms. Interested STEM students must submit an application to the STEM Legacy program. Selected students who successfully complete program requirements have the opportunity to receive a $1000 stipend for each term that they participate in. For additional program details, eligibility, responsibilities, and deadlines, please contact us.

For STEM internships, COALESCE offers Wolfson Campus students the opportunity to gain meaningful workplace experience through STEM internships. In partnership with MDC Works, students will revise their résumé, conduct mock interviews, and identify potential employers. Once placed, students are required to participate in an eight-part workshop series on career competencies. At the end of the internship/program, students who have completed all requirements have the opportunity to receive a $1000 stipend for each term that they participate in.
