STEM Legacy

The STEM Legacy COALESCE (Creating Opportunities for Applied Learning Experiences in Science, Computing, & Engineering) program was created to broaden students’ knowledge in their chosen fields, enrich their undergraduate experience, and jump start their careers in STEM. Students can participate in undergraduate research or internships in STEM.

Undergraduate Research

For undergraduate research, COALESCE offers Wolfson Campus students the opportunity to work one-on-one with a MDC faculty member on available research/projects. Students will work on the research/project activities for 5-10 hours per week for both the Fall and Spring terms. Interested STEM students must submit an application to the STEM Legacy program. Selected students who successfully complete program requirements have the opportunity to receive a $1000 stipend for each term that they participate in. For additional program details, eligibility, responsibilities, and deadlines, please contact us.

Internships

The Team Internships program, offered every Summer term, offers students a collaborative, mentored experience where they work in small groups using the design thinking framework to solve real-world challenges posed by industry and community partners such as Galatea Bio, Microsoft, and Midway Specialty Care Centers. Designed to reduce barriers for students, the program emphasizes teamwork, professional skill-building, and career exploration in a supportive, project-based environment. Selected students who successfully complete program requirements have the opportunity to receive a $1000 stipend. For additional program details, eligibility, responsibilities, and deadlines, please contact us.

STEM Career Launchpad

The STEM Career Launchpad is a professional development series offered every Summer term designed to help students explore career pathways, build essential skills, and connect with industry mentors. Through workshops, networking events, and a culminating Passion Project Showcase, the program empowers students to articulate their goals, gain confidence, and prepare for success in STEM fields.
