Matthew lives and works in Seattle, Washington as a Senior Data Engineer. He is currently the head of Cloud Services and Data Engineering for the Seattle Kraken – Seattle’s new NHL Team – and has 7 years of experience in IT Services, Web Development, and Data Analytics. He has worked in various industries ranging from Entertainment to Retail, including The Miami Heat and Amazon.com. He is a first generation Cuban American, raised in Miami, Florida and graduated from South Miami Senior High School. Matthew attended the United States Naval Academy in 2007 to study Political Science with a focus on Political Statistics and International Relations and received an Associate degree in Accounting from Miami Dade College.

As a self-taught engineer, he has a passion for continuous professional education and mentoring young engineers as a means of growing and enhancing the field of Data Analytics. Matthew’s work currently focuses on architecting and developing cloud-based data solutions and applications. He also hopes to be an MDC professor someday.
