The School of Engineering and Technology has multiple opportunities for high school students to engage in exciting courses and activities while helping them define their careers.
Miami Dade College (MDC) has partnered with the City of Miami and Mater Academy to establish a new tech-focused charter high school, Miami Tech Mater Innovation Academy, located at the Wolfson Campus. This partnership provides students with access to advanced technology programs that lead to in-demand tech jobs in the areas of computer programming, software development, and cloud computing. Students attending this high school will have the opportunity to engage and interact with Miami Dade College faculty and earn an Associate in Science degree in Cloud Computing or Computer Programming - Mobile Applications as well as industry recognized certifications. Our dual enrollment program provides an opportunity for high school students to enroll and earn college credit in Engineering and Technology courses such as Cloud Computing, Computer Programming, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Mechatronics and Electronics Engineering.
Open to high school teens, the School of Engineering and Technology's unique summer programs are unmatched in variety, quality, and fun. From Artificial Intelligence to Cybersecurity, to Animation and Game Design, students will engage in hands-on, project-based learning with access to emerging, state-of-the-art technologies.

Artificial intelligence is a constellation of different technologies working together to enable machines to sense, comprehend, act, and learn with human-like levels of intelligence. This free of cost, one-week, virtual, summer camp experience is available for rising junior and senior high school students interested in exploring the field of cybersecurity. Students engage in hands-on learning through the state-of-the-art Cybersecurity Center of the Americas. Fundamentals of various computer and network security threats such as malware, identify theft, hacking attacks, credit card fraud and social engineering are among the various topics covered. In addition, students will have the opportunity to learn about exciting career opportunities in this field and earn the Certified Secure Computer User (CSCU) industry certification. MDC’s Cloud Computing Center offers a summer program for high school students interested in learning about cloud computing. This free of cost experience is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to be good digital citizens and protect their information assets, and to expose them to the field of cybersecurity—an in-demand technology profession that is essential across all industries.
